The senses and the intellect are two separate worlds, neither of which can be fully and correctly perceived using the other. This is why the attempt to add an intellectual dimension to a sensual experience in order to amplify its meaning only causes a neutralization of both components and gives rise to a feeling of emptiness where both the intellect and the senses look repulsive and redundant. This is what happens, for example, in the heavy ritualism of the concert, which efficiently suffocates the happiness that the music naturally creates without it; or learned analyses that reduce poems and paintings into piles of charred raw materials; or the mammoth verbal spaceships that hold intersexual relations high in the oxygen-deficient atmosphere, hopelessly far above the earth from which they were uprooted.
