מכירת הגוף בשביל תמורה כלשהי היא לא רק מאפיין של עיסוקים בעלי שם רע, אלא בעצם, של כל דבר שאנחנו עושים: הנפש לא יכולה להתנועע בעולם בעצמה, ולכן מכריחה את הגוף לשאת אותה למקומות שאליהם היא רוצה להגיע; וגם הדברים שאותם לכאורה הגוף רוצה יותר מהנפש נועדים, בסופו של דבר, כדי להשפיע עליה ולא עליו. הגוף הוא תמיד זה שעובד, והנפש היא תמיד זו שמקבלת את התמורה הסופית; ולא בטוח שהיא בכלל יודעת איך להחזיר לו טובה ולשרת אותו בצורה שלא משרתת גם אותה.
Selling one's body to get some benefit is not only a characteristic of occupations with a bad name, but actually, of everything we do: the mind is unable to move around the world on its own, so it forces the body to carry it to the places it wants to reach; and even the things that appear to be wanted by the body more than by the mind are, ultimately, wanted in order to affect the mind and not the body. The body is always the one that works, and the mind is always the one that receives the final benefit; and it is doubtful whether the mind even knows how to return the favor and serve the body in a way that does not also serve itself.
