Wars are a topic that turns everyone into a self-proclaimed commentator and expert — and the time-wasting expert, too, seizes the opportunity to join the party. He simply must know all the latest news from the battlefield, and which territories were captured in the ten minutes that have passed since the last time he checked up on the situation. Of course, none of this genuinely concerns him; what he cares about is the potential of transforming as much of the day as possible into scorched earth, and in that he is more successful than any ruthless general. The war news are merely an excuse, and indeed, after he glaces at it, he turns his attention toward other things, whatever happens to cross his line of sight. The answer to his clever maneuvers is, as usual, to figure out the strategy and cut off the access routes to the objectives. No, dear time waster, nothing will happen if you remain in the dark about what is going on at the front in Ukraine; our war is, after all, somewhere else entirely, and I intend to drag you back there — so you can be defeated.
