"An ecological pond will be built here," said the sign on the shaky temporary fence outside the school gate. On the inner side of the fence, a rectangular tract of sidewalk had been removed and surrounded with concrete blocks; these would probably be the pool's borders. But then a month passed, then two, then three months, without any change. And today, suddenly, the change came: the rectangular tract that was supposed to become the pool had been flooded with wet concrete, and a memorial monument — originally located two hundred meters away — had inexplicably been planted at its center. Behind the memorial, on the shaky temporary fence, there is a sign entitled "Ecological pool — opening hours," which mentions all the days of the week; perhaps it means that the pool will still become a reality in some form, and perhaps it means that the pool will remain only here, in a sign that has itself become a memorial.
