In the past, when pornography was difficult to access, it was possible to think that its attractiveness was simply due to the massive, concurrent stimulation of the senses and the imagination; but now, when people continue to be addicted to it, or at least be very interested in it, even after decades of incessant exposure that would have made them totally lose interest in any other attraction (including real sex), the reason should be sought elsewhere. And the real reason is perhaps that pornography enables people to rebel against sexuality as a strategic interpersonal game and instead relate to it at the tactical level, as a purely enjoyable activity that can be spontaneously realized at their own will, without the need to perform the necessary steps to obtain another person's permission — in other words, without being part of society.
