Liberation, in the spiritual sense, is not the tearing down of the self but its expansion: the creation of a new, better part of the self, whose role is always to accompany the original part and assist it — as if Superman, instead of embarking on heroic adventures on the other side of the planet, used all of his supernatural powers to work as a nurse for the frail bespectacled journalist he normally pretends to be.
